Thank you for your interest in applying for America’s Pig Farmer of the Year Award. The first step is to request a Preliminary Application by filling out the form below. The application and instructions will be emailed to you.

All U.S. pork producers age 30 and older by Jan. 1, 2017, and who have five (5) or more years professional pig farming experience are eligible to apply by March 19, 2017. The winner will be announced during National Pork Month in October at a ceremony in a major U.S. city.

The winner will spend about 15 days total from October 2017 to September 2018 away from their farm speaking out for America’s pig farmers and showing consumers how responsible farmers do what’s right for People, Pigs and the Planet. The winner will receive a $15,000 honorarium to help compensate for those days away from the farm. The National Pork Board also will provide the winner with full travel expenses and logistical support related to award travel

The “America’s Pig Farmer of the Year Award Contest” is subject in all respects to the complete Official Rules available at the Contest website located at, or by sending a S.A.S.E. to “America’s Pig Farmer of the Year Award Contest  – Rules Request,” c/o National Pork Board, 1776 NW 114th St., Des Moines, IA 50325 (VT residents may omit return postage).  Open only to entrants who, as of the entry date, are permanent legal residents of the 50 U.S.A. and D.C. who are at least 30 years old and who (a) has at least 5 years of professional working experience on a commercial pig farm, (b) is Pork Quality Assurance Plus® certified, (c) is the owner of the pig farm associated with the entrant’s Contest Application, or otherwise has verifiable authorization to participate in all aspects of this Contest from the owner of the pig farm associated with the entrant’s Contest Application (including, without limitation, the ability to provide all information and access requested by Sponsor in the Contest, and to be publicly associated in the Contest and award activities with the farm), which pig farm has a PIN  issued by the USDA,  (d) has consistent Internet access, and (e) will be available to participate in all aspects of the Contest and award activities (including, without limitation, Finalist travel and activities, and all award spokesperson activities and travel).  LIMIT:  1 entrant per farm, and 1 entry per person or address.  Void outside the eligible contest territory, and where prohibited or restricted by law.  Entry period is comprised of 2 periods, a Contest interest acknowledgement period from 12:01 p.m. CT 1/23/17 – 11:59 p.m. CT 3/19/17 (which period is subject to extension by Sponsor) where entrants request from Sponsor, complete, and submit a short form eligibility and interest form and a Contest application period through at least 4/23/17, where approved eligible entrants complete and submit a Contest application to Sponsor in response to a Sponsor invitation to participate.
